Just did some time alone, waiting
solitude bingo mismatches
in suburban trailer park church
fellowships of dixie angels in Wal-Mart tees
I coerce laughter from my mind
but it’s my heart I need to find
Significant I feel the wind
breezes teasing across my face
and I smell the change
though impossible to explain
moving on, falling away
summoned unto the altar of today
screaming prayers fearful of disobedience
I am afraid of the winter
I am afraid of your face
I am afraid of the laughter
I am afraid of losing place
I am afraid of the slaughter
I am afraid of the winter
I am afraid of the hate
I am afraid I grow dimmer
I fear I am too late…
I really get this.

I love to read your work out loud. You set the physical scene beautifully and then dig into the heart of the matter. I have been struggling with dimming myself this winter– beautifully phrased.

Hope all is well with you. I know that sometimes we write fiction and sometimes we write more autobiographically but our lives, our heart of hearts, are always in our words. You sound at crossroads my friend.

It’s actually an older piece, but I appreciate your concern. Merry Christmas beautiful

Hmmm. . . perhaps this the poem where we began to know each other a little bit. Much more formal feedback than I would leave now. Now you would be lucky to get a single coherent full sentence out of me.

For Christmas SAKES! did she read this knowing? hmph 😉 (I got the news of excitedness of a new one stirring in her days as this posted…it’s as if the world senses the news)
